Why do I need to carry it out?
Thermal imaging helps to detect, troubleshoot and pinpoint problems to prevent expensive shutdowns, outages, fire risks and equipment failures.
It is fast becoming an insurance company requirement as a supplement but not a replacement to fixed wire testing, especially in installations where continuity of supply is a priority.
Electrical equipment usually heats up before it fails, invisible until a problem becomes obvious through smoke, flames or heat. Fortunately, our thermal imaging service instantly makes those hot spots clearly visible so you can catch them in time to investigate further, plan repairs, and get things fixed before they turn critical and expensive.
Thermographic surveys are a highly effective means of targeting preventive maintenance to where it is most required. Defects identified may be incorporated into planned maintenance programmes or, where necessary, may justify remedial works being performed without delay.
What we do:
We survey electrical distribution boards, fuses, bolted connections, switchgear, motors and any specifically requested items with a thermal imager and obtain an instant picture of impending trouble that would usually be undetected to the point of failure or fire.
Because this is a non-contact process, equipment and systems do not need to be shut down and are surveyed live to represent a true picture of what is happening.
We focus on detecting loose connections, overloaded cables and motors and any other scenario with the potential to lead to breakdowns and fires.
Our final report shows each image with a location stamp and temperature correlation indicator to aid the person ordering the inspection in their interpretation of the thermal images.
We will also highlight any higher temperature points which may indicate overload, loose connections or failure of switchgear .
